Under the trust act and the Section 8 Act, an NGO can receive donations just after its establishment and registration. However NGO can only receive donations from within the country if FCRA registration is not obtained by NGO. So in order to get international funding NGO has to get FCRA registration done. FCRA stands for Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976. The registration under the FCRA is granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. NGO must have completed 3 years in order to get FCRA Registration.
